Twas the Day after Christmas…

0pKr%Q1EQAOjhVyAIyqA2QTwas the day after Christmas and all through the house

All the presents where unwrapped and everything left out.

And Dad was so Happy and Mom smiled too

As we took stock of the wishes that really came true.

The golf clubs and craft stuff and of course some new clothes,

The gear for the trailer made our hearts all aglow!

The new pots and levelers and the new chalks too,

The Levelmate Pro made me shout YAHOO!

It was certain that the Jolly old Elf had seen all our lists,

Nothing was forgotten, nothing was missed.

The kids were together with mom and dad,

And deep in our hearts that made us so glad.

Christmas again was a huge success!

Even though it left the house a big mess.

And so we wrap another great year,

It has left us all full of cheer!

Ok.. so a poet I am not… but we had a fantastic Christmas and look forward to the coming year.

The kids house is being cleaned and rebuilt after the fire and it looks like a reasonable timeline has been set.  It was nice to at least have everyone safe and at our house for Christmas.

Got lots of great stuff for the RV.. yeah.. Mrs. Clause made it a wonderful Christmas for us.

Can’t wait to get back out there and play with some of the new stuff.

Hope you all had a Great Christmas.

I can’t wait to see what 2019 brings us!

Thanks for being a part of our community!  Have a great Holiday Season!

Merry Christmas

The Big 5 List – Christmas Wishes

This weeks Big 5 list is all about our Happy Place.. I hope Santa and his Elves are reading this.. oh and they should Subscribe and Like the post too…
These are the Big 5 things that I was Santa to bring for the Happy Place.
anderson1.  Anderson Levelers.  I have been looking at these for two years now and am finally at the point where I want them.  They will make leveling the trailer a lot easier and reduce the time we spend checking the level and making adjustments.  We use your standard yellow leveling blocks now, and while they do a good job.. I think it is time for an upgrade.
Anderson Levelers on Amazon.
2.  LevelMatePro Bluetooth Vehicle Leveling System.  Ok.. so this one confirms me a gear geek, but I gotta tell you.. watch the video on this product and you will want one too.  Showed this to Teresa.. who has to get out every time to check the level and I think I have her sold on this idea.  This handy device makes setting up super easy.  We live in the Pacific Northwest, so rain is always an option.  Having this will make it a lot more comfortable setting up and quicker taking down to with the cool feature that remembers the height to your ball hitch.  It’s a tad bit spendy, but in the long run I think Santa would get his money back in convenience.

compressor3.  3 gal. 1/3 Horsepower 100 PSI Oil Free Pancake Air Compressor.  This item has a bunch of uses, namely keeping air in the tires and blowing out the water lines.  But I am certain there are more uses than that.  The reason I want this one is the size.  It is small, light, and stores in the RV with ease.  A friend of mine has this little gem and it actually saved my bacon on our last outing when I realized that our tires were a little low.  Saved possible blow out on the way home.
4.  New hard Rubber Chalks.  I have been using the typical yellow chalks that you get when you first buy your RV.  Well I started with four of them and have run over two of them.. totally flattening them.  They have done their work for the last two years, but again, time for an upgrade and something more secure.  I worry about the trailer stability at times, especially since more of the campgrounds and RV pads are uneven and you never know what you are going to get.  It never hurts to be a little safer than not.
5.  New memory foam set cushions for the dinette.  This is something that is a DIY project, but something that needs to get done.  As you know, the padding is not always the greatest.  From the bed mattress, to the dinette the cushions are less than desirable, especially after two years of sitting on them.  We replaced the bed mattress with memory foam and it is fantastic!!!  Now we need to replace the dinette cushions.  Looks like Santa might have to do that one himself.. err.. or bring some memory foam.
Well.. that’s the BIG 5 for this week.  With Christmas just a few days away I hope the list is not to late in getting published for the Jolly Old Elf to see.
Enjoy the Holiday!

House Update- Just Stuff

epy4IY9qSVuMXq0VXVYl+QWell we are 4 days from our Sons house burning.. as expected, it has been consuming our lives since the Fire Department left.  I promise that this blog is not going to be about my sons house.. but until we get this situation to the recovery and cleaning phase it will be at the forefront.  The good news is the process will start on the 26th of December. Paper work goes in today and the insurance is all over it.
The point of this post is this.  It’s just stuff.
Just Stuff and as we enter the last weekend before Christmas it is important to remember that it is all stuff.  We value our stuff and sometimes let our stuff get the best of us.  As we walked through their house yesterday with the contractor that is going to get to the task of getting their lives back to normal we came to realize that with a few exceptions nothing in the house was that important.  The contractor asked what needed to be replaced immediately… besides the house itself…  There was nothing that was asked for.  There was not one item in the house that they could not live without.  That got me thinking.  A computer?  Clothing?  Furniture?  Besides personal items like pictures, everything can and will be replaced.  It is all just stuff.
rbiCzasUTNy3wBzXRfQ%OQI think that is one of the reason I love the RV so much.  There is not that much stuff.  We keep it simple and we make due with the things that we have.
The kids are not homeless, they are just displaced right now.  They still have a roof over their head as they are in our travel trailer… but they have heat, water, and the family right next door.  The stuff is going to be replaced.
We can be upset and feel some sorrow for the loss of the stuff, but at the end of the day they have to look ahead to what will be better.  New stuff.
The timing of this is awful that is for sure.  But nothing important was lost.  Christmas is still going to happen and in a couple of months they will move back into a remodeled home.
It could all be worse so we count our blessings.
Think about how you live and all the stuff.  What is important to you?  This ordeal has put things in perspective for us.
Have a Happy Holiday Season!
This has added to our appreciation of the Happy Place and the Happiness we find in our lives.

The BIG 5 List- Christmas Movies

For our introductory BIG 5 List we are going to look at the Holiday’s… This is my BIG 5 All time favorite Christmas Movies.
Let me know what yours favorite Christmas Movies are…
Here we go

5.  A Christmas Carol (1951)
There has been many versions of this classic.  Early in High School I became a fan of Dickens.  I think the 1951 version starring Alastair Sim as Scrooge tells the story best for me.
The effects are cheesy, but the acting is superb! A great Christmas movie that brings a chill down your spine and warms your heart at the same time.
4.  White Christmas
What can you say.  This is the ultimate Christmas classic.  The music and dance keep me coming back.  It just never seems to get old for me.  Yeah.. would not make a popular movie these days, but there is something about White Christmas that brings me back to watching it as a kid.  I love Danny Kaye in most everything he did.  This movie just screams Christmas to me.white-christmas-christmas-movies-1534792971
3.  National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
This is my go to silly Christmas movie.  A timeless classic that is full one liners and scenes that come up at every family Christmas party.  Eddy is the ultimate RVer and a classic case of how not to dump your black tank.
2.  It’s a Wonderful Life
You just can not go wrong with It’s a Wonderful life.  A great message of hope and grace. There is something about Jimmy Stewart that will always bring me back to this classic.its-a-wonderful-life-christmas-movies-1534791161
1.  A Christmas Story.
Love this movie for a bunch of reasons, but namely because for years a bunch of our friends have gotten together for a gift exchange and to watch a Christmas movie.  This was the go to movie for many years.
There is something about the nostalgia of Christmas past.  Simpler times perhaps, it makes me want to have grown up back then.a-christmas-story-christmas-movies-1534790083

Well that’s the BIG 5 for this week.  Let me know what your favorite Christmas movies are.  And yeah.. I’ll even give you Die Hard as a Christmas movie…
